The course overview is an area that lets you see a birds-eye view of what's happening in your course.

The overview is split into multiple sections so there's a some shortcuts available to let you can jump down to the section you need.

Exam Overview

The first section gives you an overview of your exams. It can be seen if you have the permission to view exams.

The three widgets from left to right are:

  1. Next Exam Sitting - this will give you the detail of the next upcoming exam sitting in the future. You can click on the widget to be brought directly to the Exam Sitting.

  2. Exams in Progress - this will show you the total number of exams that are currently running right now in this course. You can click on the widget which will bring you to the calendar view where you can see all of the exams scheduled.

Exam sittings awaiting action

This displays a list of all the exam sittings that require attention. The exams sittings could either require marking to be completed, or for the results and feedback to be released to students.

You can click on the names of the Exams or the Sittings to be brought directly to the appropriate area.

Question information

This section gives you an overview of the questions in your course's question bank. Archived questions are ignored when calculating the figures displayed in the graphs and stats.

There are three widgets in the question information section.

From left to right they are:

  1. Question types breakdown - this displays a pie chart of all the question types that exist in your course's question bank.

  2. Total questions in this course - this displays the total number of questions in your question bank. We also display a breakdown of the most popular question types. Keep in mind that a single question in BetterExaminations can be made of multiple question types (for example, a single question could be made of three separate Multiple choice question types).

This widget also allows you to download a full Question Bank report. The report will be in CSV format and each line will represent a single question in your question bank. Unlike the charts displayed in the Course overview page, the downloadable report includes your archived questions too. The report allows you to see: The title of the question, the number of exams the question is used in, a link to each exam the question is used in, The question types the question is made up of, the status of the question, The name of the user that last modified the question, the date the question was last modified, and finally. the tags assigned to the question.

  3. Used vs Unused - this displays a pie chart displaying the number of questions in your question bank that are currently used in exams in this course.
