User Roles & Rights

This article explains the different roles available as standard within BetterExaminations

User roles are used to differentiate the users within the system based on their needs and tasks they need to achieve using BetterExaminations. 

Super User:

The Super User role is designated for overall administrators within the system. This user can be within the central exam office/require access to every module for approval and oversight of entire process.

  • Access to Control Panel
  • Access to Dashboard for entire institution
  • Access to All Modules
  • Ability to create New Users, Modules, Exams etc
  • Ability to Approve Exam Versions/Documents
  • Ability to Manage Access to Exam Versions/Documents
  • Access to All Chats in modules

Examinations Officer

The Examinations Offier Role is designated to the exam office/administration staff who require access to manage/monitor the system but should not need/have the ability to control the system.

  • Access to Dashboard for entire institution
  • Access to All Modules
  • Ability to create New Users, Modules, Exams etc
  • Ability to Approve Exam Versions/Documents
  • Ability to Manage Access to Exam Versions/Documents
  • Access to All Chats in modules

Program Head

The Program Head role can be used for Heads of Departments/members who only require access to specific faculties. 

  • Access to their Own Faculty Modules
  • Access to Dashboard for Own Faculty
  • View Exam Versions

Lecturer/Common User

This user should be created for members of lecturing staff/staff needed to simply submit versions and approve from their level.

  • Access to Assigned Modules
  • Access to Chats for Assigned Modules
  • Ability to Approve Assigned Modules Exam Versions/Documents

External Examiner

The External Examiner role enables Super Users to designate an external member of staff needed to approve, comment and review exam versions.

  • Access to Assigned Modules
  • Access to Chats for Assigned Modules
  • Ability to Approve Assigned Modules Exam Versions/Documents
